On 20 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the Chairman of the Management Board of the Movement of the First Artur Orlov visited the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy held in the birch tree grove in the settlement of Mirnyy in Kazan.
Upon their arrival to the festive site, Rustam Minnikhanov and other guests looked round national homesteads where regions of the republic represented traditions, everyday life and culture of the Tatars.
On 20 June Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin visited celebrations of the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy in the birch-tree grove of the settlement of Derbyshki in Kazan, where he looked round Tatar homesteads of Saby and Baltasi regions, demonstrating traditions and cultural peculiarities of the Tatars, rural residents and village homes with traditional household items.
On 19 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Kazan Hippodrome, where traditional horse races were held as part of the Sabantuy celebrations.
The total prize fund of the races, which were held on the eve of main celebrations of the Sabantuy holiday in Kazan, amounted to 8.7 million rubles and in addition to the races guests looked round an exhibition and watched a concert programme.
On 19 June at a meeting in the Government House of the republic the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov gave a number of errands concerning celebrations of several events in the nearest few days.
Thus, speaking about horse races and holiday celebrations of Sabantuy holiday in Kazan on 19 and 20 June, he emphasized: “The priority task is to ensure security. Many regions provide support for the celebration. Measures should be taken to prevent incidents during celebration events and to ensure the high level of law and order in the whole.”
On 19 June at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, summarizing results of the Russia-ASEAN Summit held in Kazan these days, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said: “It is a very important event for our country and the largest event for Tatarstan after the BRICS Summit. The holding of a summit meeting between the leaders of Russia and 11 states of the South-East Asia is a great diplomatic victory of our country under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a great deal of trust, a great honor and huge responsibility for the republic.”
On 18 June a number of heads of delegations-participants of the Russia-ASEAN summit completed there working trip to Kazan, and at the Kazan International Airport the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov bid farewell to the Prime Minister of Laos Sonexay Siphandone, the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, the Prime Minister of East Timor Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão and the Secretary General of the ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn.
On 18 June the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN Summit in Kazan, where the Russian President noted that Russia and Singapore interact at many international platforms first of all in the UN. Russia-Singapore relations are traditionally marked for mutually respectful and pragmatic character and for keeping a continuous dialogue in mutually interesting spheres. Coordination is being carried out to respond to common challenges and threats, in particular in the area of ensuring international information security, he said.
On 18 June, following the Russia-ASEAN summit, co-chairs Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos made statements to the media, where Vladimir Putin emphasized that the summit work was fruitful and went in a friendly and business atmosphere.
“The strategic directions of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN countries for the future are set out in the Kazan declaration approved by the results of the summit. The documents especially underlines the commitment of all our states to the formation of a fair and democratic multipolar world order based on generally recognized principles of the international law and the UN Charter,” the Russian President said.
On 16 June, speaking at his meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong on the sidelines of the Russia-ASEAN Summit in Kazan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that Tatarstan as one of the leading regions of Russia has rich history of cooperation with Singapore. Important areas of cooperation include innovation, information and communication technologies, and exchange of experience. One of the bright projects is the City of Innopolis, the master-plan of which was developed by a Singapore company. “We have rich experience in organizing internship to study the public administration experience,” he noted.
