On 29 November in the Kazan Kremlin the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for consular, parliamentary issues and matters of Iranians living abroad Vahid Jalalzadeh, who came to Kazan to take part in a ceremony of opening a new building of the General Consulate of Iran in the capital of Tatarstan located in the center of the city.
Welcoming his guest, Rustam Minnikhanov stated that under conditions of the crisis in international matters the cooperation of Russia and Iran gains special value and importance and the opening of the new building of the General Consulate in Kazan is extremely symbolic.
The Iranian Deputy Minister thanked the Rais of the republic for the meeting and emphasized: “Relations between Russia and Iran are at an important stage and have a strategic meaning. We are especially happy to visit your remarkable republic as we have much in common.”
According to results of last year the Tatarstan-Iran trade turnover made 178m dollars US and the parties of the meeting stated the necessity of ramping up work in increasing the mutual trade amount. The unimpaired operation of the international transport corridor “North-South” gains special importance in this respect.
Vahid Jalalzadeh also stressed the necessity of resuming direct flights between Kazan and Iranian cities.
