On December 3, speaking at a briefing held in a videoconference mode with all municipal regions of the republic on the International Day of Disabled Persons, heads of ministries and departments spoke about accessible environment, career guidance, employment, rehabilitation, pensions and payments to people with disabilities and wounded military personnel – participants of the special military operation.
Currently, 282,000 disabled people live in Tatarstan, including 18,000 children. This year, 36 million rubles will be allocated in the republic to create an accessible environment and adapt healthcare, education, culture and social institutions. By the end of the year, another 30 social facilities will be adapted.
The employment rate of disabled persons of working age in Tatarstan makes 32 per cent of the total number of disabled persons in the region. In Russia, the figure is 28 per cent.
As many as 249,000 disabled people, including 15,000 families with disabled children, receive subsidies and benefits for payment of housing and utilities in the republic.
Head of the Department of the Social Fund of Russia in Tatarstan Eduard Vafin spoke about pension provision for disabled people from Tatarstan, providing them with the necessary rehabilitation equipment and vouchers to sanatoriums.
