Iran became the full member of the BRICS Group on 1 January 2024.

On 20 October, speaking at his meeting with the President of the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik, who arrived with the direct flight Belgrad-Kazan to take part in events of the 16th BRICS Summit, in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked his guest for his visit to Kazan to take part in the BRICS Summit. “It is a great and very important event for the whole of our country,” he said. 

On 20 October in the Government House of the republic, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff who came to Tatarstan to take part in events of the 16th BRICS Summit by direct flight Shanghai-Kazan on 19 October. 

On 19 October, upon her arrival to the Kazan International Airport, the President of the New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, who came to Tatarstan to take part in events of the 16th BRICS Summit, was welcomed by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials.

On October 19, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held in a videoconference with all regional municipalities, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that the summit of heads of state is a key event of Russia's BRICS presidency in 2024 and informed about the restrictions that are being imposed in the capital of Tatarstan - Kazan - during the events of the 16th BRICS summit.
