On May 15, at the Kazan Arena Stadium Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarsan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Aide to Chairman of the Russian Government Gennady Onishchenko, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of the republic Vladimir Leonov and other officials took part in a solemn opening of the Kazan Marathon-2016 timed to coincide with the International Memorial Day of People who died from AIDS.
