Department of State Awards of the Office of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan is established for the purposes of supporting the work of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan in respect of power exercise in the sphere of Award Legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.

The major tasks of the Department are as follows:

• To support exercise of powers of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan in the sphere of awarding the state decorations of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, giving the honorary ranks of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan (hereinafter referred to as a state decoration), gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation, Gratitude of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan, Letter of Gratitude of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan); encouragement with the Russian Federation Presidential Certificate of Honour, gratitude of the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan (hereinafter referred to as incentives);
• To support the work of the State Award Commission under the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan.
