On July 20, at his meeting with representatives of Tatar community of Buryatia in Ulan-Ude (House of People’s Friendship), Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked leadership of the region for supporting local Tatars and providing favourble conditions for the preservation and development of national culture and traditions. He noted that Sabantui (the national Tatar holiday) was held for the 10th time in Buryatia.

“Kazan is ready to receive guests and host FINA World Championship. The remaining works are connected with increasing the comfort level of sports teams and spectators,” Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said at a press conference at the Government House of the republic today.

On July 20, at a session of the organizing committee of the 16th FINA World Championship and FINA World Masters Championship in Kazan, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said that 2,651 sportsmen from 190 countries will arrive in Kazan to take part in the event.

On July 19, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived on a working visit in Buryatia, was met by Head of the republic Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn at “Baikal” international airport.

On July 19, the 15th Federal Sabantui opened in Krasnoyarsk. The holiday was organized with the auspices of the Krasnoyarsk region and the Republic of Tatarstan. Festive celebrations dedicated to cultural traditions of the Tatar people started with a performance of artists from Tatarstan and Krasnoyarsk. Representatives of Tatar diaspora from 36 Russian regions, 500 artists from Tatarstan came to Krasnoyarsk to take part in the federal Sabantui.
