Rustam Minnikhanov holds meeting of the Presidium of the Commission for Countering Corruption in Tatarstan

On August 16, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the Presidium of the Commission for Countering Corruption in Tatarstan, which considered the information on providing false (incomplete) information on incomes, expenses, property and property-related liabilitiese by regional state officials for 2016.

Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov reminded that systematic measures are being taken in the republic to reduce corruption, including scientific and practical conferences on countering corruption, regular training of state officials holding positions at the regional and municipal levels, a special state programme, systematic work to get the public informed about anti-corruption work.

Making a keynote report at the meeting, Prosecutor of Tatarstan Ildus Nafikov said that for the first six months of 2017, more than 400 corruption offenses have been suppressed, over 1,300 violations of anti-corruption legislation have been revealed, 321 of which are income-related.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov drew particular attention to the fact that information on incomes and expenses should be transparent and controlled by the public.

Minnikhanov noted that it is a legislative duty for all state and municipal officials, as well as persons holding state and municipal positions to declare their incomes and expenses in order to prevent corruption. Senior officials have a special responsibility to show an example for their staff in this regard, he continued. 

As noted at the meeting, the members of the Commission for Countering Corruption in Tatarstan should review accordingly the revealed facts of providing false (incomplete) information on incomes, expenses, property and property-related liabilities.

State Counsellor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin took part in the meeting.
