Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in a ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame in the Victory Park in Kazan

On June 22, on the Day of Memory and Sorrow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths at the Eternal Flame in the Victory Park in Kazan.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, President of the Russian Football Union Vitaly Mutko, Hero of the Soviet Union, participant of the Great Patriotic War Boris Kuznetsov, President of the German Football Union Reinhard Grindel and other officials took part in the ceremony.

The ceremony participants held a minute's silence to pay tribute to the memory of those who fell defending their homeland in the battles against Nazi invaders.

The honour guard company of the Kazan garrison took part in the event.

Before the ceremony, Minnikhanov and Mutko talked to veterans, representatives of search parties and participants of the Candle of Memory patriotic event.
