Rustam Minnikhanov visits holiday of Chuvash culture “Uyav” in Nurlat region of Tatarstan Republic
03.07.2011V All-Russia holiday of Chuvash culture “Uyav” was celebrated in Nurlat region of Tatarstan Republic on July, 3.
RT President Rustam Minnikhanov and President of Chuvash republic Mikhail Ignatiev attended the event. Guests were to see broad entertainment program. Representatives of nations living in the region - Tatars, Chuvash, and Russians greeted guests by the entrance to maidan.
Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Ignatiev visited impromptu households, saw items of folk craft and tasted national dishes.
Head of Tatarstan welcomed guests in Chuvash language. He reminded that recently the II All-Russia rural Sabantui took place on Chuvash land. “Guests are still under the impression of holiday and success our compatriots achieved”, - RT President said. He thanked Mikhail Ignatiev and everyone who helped to organize Sabantui.
“Today we can take part in a wonderful holiday of Chuvash culture “Uyav” that is being held on Tatarstan land. Being rooted in ancient times it is a spiritual bridge connecting modern Chuvash people with their ancestors”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.
RT President reminded that holiday “Uyav” has a republican status and is celebrated since 1993. For the last five years it is celebrated in extended format with attraction of the Chuvash living in RF regions. “During this period of time the holiday has gained its own flavour and atmosphere of spiritual kinship”, - Rustam Minnikhanov believes. He added that currently 126 000 Chuvash people live in Tatarstan - the third most populous ethnic group after Tatars and Russians.
RT Preisdent noted that the Chuvash properly work in various economic sectors. The learning process in native language is held in 118 Chuvash schools.
On finishing the speech Rustam Minnikhanov thanked organizers of holiday “Uyav” and granted letters of gratitude of RT President to the most distinguished.
“Cheerful and bright atmosphere raise our spirits, inspires, unites people of different generations, nations and professions”, - President of Chuvash Republic stressed. Mikhail Ignatiev awarded two folk ensembles and organizers of the holiday with letters of gratitude.
