Rustam Minnikhanov: TAIF-NK's project is a good example of environmental protection

On June 8, speaking at a solemn start-up ceremony of the reconstructed workshop for local treatment of industrial wastewater at TAIF-NK oil refining complex in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov called the project successful.

Minnikhanov said that this is the second significant event for Nizhnekamsk in the Year of Econogy. He reminded that city's sewage treatment plants, people complained about, have been put in order recently.

"It took four years to implement this large-scale project worth 3.7 billion roubles at TAIF-NK. We have seen the world's most advanced systems with a 99.9 per cent level of oil products capture," Tatarstan President said.

According to Minnikhanov, Director of TAIF-NK drank some water received after purification, "and nothing happened to him, and he even began to look better."

Minnikhanov said that TAIF-NK's project is a very good example of environmental protection. According to him, the load on the environment in Nizhnekamsk has become less than previously, and in the meanwhile heavy residues deep conversion complex, which is under construction now, will output as many products as the primary production cycle of TAIF-NK.

"Nizhnekamsk is the country's petrochemical centre, the point of growth of the economy of the republic," Minnikhanov summed up.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor of Nizhnekamsk, Head of Nizhnekamsk municipal region Aidar Metshin, also noted that due to concern of the regional leadership, professionalism and effective activity of production workers, the impact on the environment has been significantly reduced.
