Tatarstan President meets delegation from Turkmenistan

On May 19, during the ninth International Economic Summit “Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2017” at the Korston Entertainment Complex, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting with the delegation from Turkmenistan led by Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Norms of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Minnikhanov thanked Berdimuhamedov for his participation in the forum and conveyed words of gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for attention paid to the development of cooperation with Tatarstan.

Minnikhanov stressed that Turkmenistan has always been a strategic partner for Tatarstan: "Our peoples have been connected by deep historical spiritual and cultural ties and fruitful trade and economic relations."

According to Tatarstan President, there are new opportunities for interaction that need to be used effectively. In particular, there is a considerable potential for the development of ties in such areas as oil production, engineering, power engineering, agro-industrial complex, pharmaceuticals and medicine, the supply of chemical products, etc.

Minnikhanov noted the importance of further development of Tatarstan-Turkmenistan cooperation aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Russia and Turkmenistan.
