On April 24, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Rogozin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin, Minister of Industry and Trade of the republic Albert Karimov, Head of Zelenodolsk municipal region Aleksandr Tyghin and other officials took part in a solemn keel-laying ceremony of the 10th small missile ship, the Grad (Project 21631).
The Grad was designed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau. Multi-purpose ships of this project, with a "land-sea" class, have been built for the Russian Navy since 2010. The ship features water jet engines. Three ships built at the Zelenodolsk plant are being operated in the Caspian Sea and two - in the Baltic Sea.
Pesoshin congratulated factory workers on the solemn event and noted the high level of development of Zelenodolsk shipbuilding plant.
Prime Minister of the republic of Tatarstan thanked the Government of Russia, senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Navy for giving credence to the Tatarstan enterprise.
In his interview to journalists, Rogozin appreciated the plant's work in terms of increasing the output of commercial products and shipboard equipment.
"I am very impressed that today the plant is engaged in shipboard equipment. This is not only the solution of tasks of the enterprise itself, but also the creation of new competencies for the whole Russia,” he noted.
