2017 declared the Year of Prevention of Injuries and Disorders of Locomotor Apparatus in Tatarstan

On April 18, speaking at a briefing at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Health said that 2017 was declared the Year of Prevention of Injuries and Disorders of Locomotor Apparatus in Tatarstan. The corresponding decree was signed by Tatarstan President in March this year.

Every year about 2.5 billion roubles are spent for medical treatment and sick pay in Tatarstan.

A total of 400,115 injuries were registered in the republic in 2016. The rate of injuries made 103.4 per 1000 people or every 10th resident in Tatarstan last year.

In 2016, the mortality rate because of injuries was 90.0 per 100,000 people in the republic, which makes 7.8 per cent of the total mortality.

Departments of traumatology and orthopaedics are open in 13 medical facilities of the republic, including Kazan, Almetyevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Bugulma, Yelabuga, Leninogorsk, Zainsk, Zelenodolsk and Chistopol.

The Minister pointed out that the Year of Prevention of Injuries and Disorders of Locomotor Apparatus implies interdepartmental work, which focuses on the prevention of injuries, including traffic accidents. One of the main tasks is to get people familiar with a healthy lifestyle and physical activity.
