Chairman of Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin visits historic sites of Staro-Tatarskaya sloboda in Kazan

On February 13, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin accompanied by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev, and other officials visited historic sites of Staro-Tatarskaya sloboda in Kazan.

Staro-Tatarskaya sloboda is one of the historic sites located in the center of the Kazan city. The architectural ensemble comprises mansions of former Tatar merchants and religious leaders, the museum of Gabdulla Tukai, and one of the important sites of historic and cultural heritage – Mardzhani Mosque.

Aide to Tatarstan President Olesya Baltusova told about the lifestyle of Tatar merchants, who lived in the 18-19th centuries.
