Tatarstan is one of the leaders in terms of wage level among regions of Volga Federal District

On January 25, speaking at a summary session of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the republic, Head of the Ministry Elmira Zaripova reported the Tatarstan is one of the leaders in terms of wage level among regions of Volga Federal District. She said that in 2016 an average salary made 29,665 roubles, which is almost 6 per cent more than in 2015.

"The minimum wage for public sector workers reached 8,252 roubles, which is 10 per cent more than the minimum wage in Russia," Zaripova said.

The general unemployment rate is 3.8 per cent in Tatarstan. This figure is much lower than on an average in Volga Federal District (4.5 per cent) and Russia in general (5.3 per cent).

Due to measures taken by the regional leadership the labour market has stabilized, Zaripova pointed out.
