On January 6, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Theophane on the holy day of Christmas.

“Your Eminence! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you and the Orthodox clergy of the Republic of Tatarstan on the Christmas Day. Christian traditions of tolerance and respect for dissidents, readiness to cooperate for the sake of peaceful life and well-being of all people remain a significant factor in social cohesion and civil consent in our multinational country today.

Christmas, a beautiful and bright holiday which is celebrated on a larger scale in Russia from year to year, is another excellent opportunity to unite the Russians and establish ethnic and confessional peace, the spirit of friendship and constructive cooperation among all peoples of our multicultural society.
