Ildar Khalikov opens All-Russia water polo championship among veterans

On December 16, at Cultural and Sports Complex “Olymp” in Kazan, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov and other officials took part in a solemn opening of the first All-Russia water polo championship among veterans in memory of Lieutenant General Aleksandr Antonov.

The event started with a minute’s silence in memory of the former Head of the Federal Security Service in Tatarstan Lieutenant General Aleksandr Antonov, who tragically died in the plane crash in Kazan in 2013.  

Khalikov said that water polo played an important role in life of Aleksandr Antonov. He added that the current championship is a good opportunity for veterans of water polo to demonstrate their sports skills. He congratulated everyone on the beginning of the event and wished sportsmen good luck.

The championship will be held on December 16-17.
