Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in VI session of Russia-Japan Advisory Council on Modernization of the Russian economy

On September 19, the 4th session of Russia-Japan Advisory Council on Modernization of the Russian economy was held at Korston hotel in Kazan.

Russian Deputy Minister of economic development Stanislav Voskresensky, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, Chairman of the Transport Subcommittee of Japan-Russia Committee on economic cooperation Takeshi Hashimoto, and other officials took part in the session.

Opening the session, Stanislav Voskresensky noted that Tatarstan is a region that proactively develops cooperation with Japan, and implements a number of successful Russia-Japan projects. He reminded about the 2nd Eastern economic forum that was held with participation of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe in Vladivostok.  

According to Voskresensky, the project work on the implementation of the plan of bilateral cooperation having been offered by Prime Minister of Japan at his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Sochi this year should become the main joint task.

Toyohisa Kozuki said that the session is held in a wonderful city of Kazan where Eastern and Western cultures intertwine. He thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for high level of organization of the event.

Mr Kozuki stressed that the cooperation plan offered by Prime Minister of Japan will become a new basis of the development of Russia-Japan economic cooperation.

Welcoming participants of the session, Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to set up cooperation with potential Japanese partners and reminded about his meeting with Toyohisa Kozuki at the Kazan Kremlin.

“We are interested in attracting Japanese business and capital and are willing to expand our contacts and render every kind of assistance,” Minnikhanov said.

Participants of the session discussed prospective projects in the sphere of implementation of advanced technologies, creation of the export base for Asia-pacific Region, development of industry in the Far East, production of energy resources, increase of industrial capacity, and development of urban environment.
