Rustam Minnikhanov meets former priest of Kazan Roman Catholic Parish "Exaltation of the Holy Cross" Father Diogenes Urquiza

On September 14, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the former priest of Kazan Roman Catholic Parish "Exaltation of the Holy Cross" Father Diogenes Urquiza.

After 21 years of service Diogenes Urquiza is moving to Saratov to be the Vicar General of the Diocese of Saint Clement, and Father Andrey Startsev from Naberezhnye Chelny will be holding his post.  

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Diogenes Urquiza made a great contribution to strengthening of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional peace and preservation of spiritual heritage in the republic. He wished Diogenes Urquiza to successfully continue his work.

Diogenes Urquiza thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for supporting Catholics in Tatarstan and noted that constructive interaction was established between Catholic Parish and regional leadership.

Minnikhanov handed over a medal of the Republic of Tatarstan “For valorous labour” to Diogenes Urquiza.
