On August 30, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Russian Minister of Transport Maksim Sokolov arrived on a working visit in Zelenodolsk to take part in the opening of a bridge over the railway line.
“We are celebrating two holidays today – the Republic Day and opening of this bridge, which is a long-awaited facility for Zelenodolsk. There were complex engineering tasks that we had to solve. The town faced some problems with traffic. On average the railway crossing was closed for 11 hours during the day. Now the problem has been solved. I would like to thank our branch of the Gorky Railway and our builders for the quality workmanship," Minnikhanov said.
"Despite the rainy day (and the rain is a good sign), I want to congratulate you. I think that this bridge will be a good present for all citizens of Zelenodolsk and his guests on the Day of Republic. It has linked two parts of the city together to ensure safety and jam-free traffic over the railroad tracks. This has a positive impact on the ecology of the city and reduces running costs for companies based in the town,” Sokolov added.
After the ceremony of handing over state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Ministry of Transport the bridge was opened to traffic.
