Patriarch Kirill and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov unveil Monument to Gavriil Derzhavin in Laishevo

On July 20, at the ceremony of unveiling the Monument to Gavriil Derzhavin in Laishevo region (Tatarstan), Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said that unveiling the monument to the great Russian poet and famous politician on his historical homeland is important for Tatarstan and Russia.

Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counsellor of the republic Mintimer Shaimiev and Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan attended the event.

The monument was built under the federal project “Alley of Russian glory” and funded by rector of All-Russian state university of Justice Olga Aleksandrova.
