Tatarstan President takes part in XVI Federal Sabantui in Nizhny Novgorod

On July 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the 16th Federal Sabantui in Nizhny Novgorod. Upon arrival the president looked around the sites of “The city of masters”, “The wreath of friendship”, the exhibition of arts and crafts of Nizhny Novgorod and Tatarstan. The guests could also get familiar with lifestyle of Tatar villagers.

In his welcoming speech, Rustam Minnikhanov said that Sabantui is one of the most favourite holidays of Tatars, and it is celebrated also far beyond the republic. This year the holiday was held in 57 Russian regions and 27 foreign countries.

Tatarstan President thanked the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Valery Shantsev for a perfect organization of the holiday celebrations. Guests from 47 Russian regions attended the 16th Federal Sabantui.

Valery Shantsev reminded that the concert of masters of art of Tatarstan was held in Nizhny Novgorod the day before.

Rustam Minnikhanov handed over state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan to citizens of Nizhny Novgorod, who made a great contribution to the preservation and development of Tatar culture. Moreover, he presented the keys from a mini bus to the Head of the local regional national and cultural autonomy of Tatars.
