On June 3, the presentation, organized for Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology began with the words “the best investment is investment in science”.

The Institute is located in Jena (Thuringia) and investigates the scientific bases of photonic processes and very high sensitivity systems. Moreover, the Institute conducts research in the areas of quantum electronics, optics, electronic systems, microsystems, biophotonics and laser technology.

Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology plays a leading role at the national and international scientific level, making a significant contribution to the development in the field of biophotonics research.

Minnikhanov was told that despite scientific activity being priority applied research plays an important role as well.

The Institute also coordinates a number of EU projects, funded by the European Commission.

With regard to investment, the Institute receives funding from third-party investors as well, who are interested in the development of photonics. Funds from outside investors make about half of all the funds of the Institute.

Rustam Minnikhanov visited some laboratories and facilities for research, got familiarized with the most modern equipment, which is used for the work of the Institute of photonic technology.
