On June 2, during his working visit to Dresden, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Prime Minster of Saxony (Federal Republic of Germany) Stanislav Tillich.

Welcoming the guests, Tillich noted that Saxony and Tatarstan have been bound by long-time friendly relations. He also reminded that his next visit to Tatarstan is planned for later in the year. Previously, Stanislaw Tillich visited Tatarstan in 2009.

Stanislaw Tillich said that he leads a team responsible for the development of relations between Russia and Germany in Bundestag. “This gives reason to hope that we will have many opportunities to strengthen relations both between Germany and Russia, and between the regions of our countries - Saxony and Tatarstan,” Tillich said.

In his turn Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Saxony for a warm reception extended to the Tatarstan delegation.

“We are impressed with the extensive programme we have in Dresden. We have visited several industrial innovation enterprises, got acquainted with the activities of Fraunhofer Institute in the field of laser technology, held the Saxony – Tatarstan Economic Forum,” Minnikhanov said.

"It is important that despite the international political situation, we have the opportunity to continue our collaboration, especially at the interregional level. Saxony and our republic play a great role in this,” Minnikhanov said.

Minnikhanov and Stanislaw Tillich also discussed issues related to further development and strengthening of cooperation.

According to Minnikhanov, the time has come to give a new impetus to cooperation between the two regions - Saxony and Tatarstan, which has very good prospects.

“Today's meeting has shown that we have all the opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, which we do not use in full. We need to intensify the work of business communities," Minnikhanov concluded.
