Rustam Minnikhanov: Creation of the system of Muslim religious education requires coordination of work at all levels

On May 20, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President held a meeting with Muslim leaders of Russia and foreign countries on the development of the system of Muslim religious education in Russia.

Chairman of the Council for Islamic education, rector of Russian Islamic Institute Rafik Mukhametshin made a report on the current situation in the system of Muslim religious education, existing problems and their solution.

The main discussed issue was the establishment of the Bolgar Islamic Academy that is aimed to be the highest level of Muslim religious education in the country. Masters and doctors of theology will gain education at the academy. It was noted that the idea to establish the academy was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the project requires the support of all interested parties and the federal center.

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Department for internal policy Mikhail Belousov, Deputy Presiential envoy in Volga Federal District Oleg Melnichenko, Chairman of the Russian Central Muslim Spiritual Administration Kamil hazrat Samigullin, Muslim leaders of Russia and foreign countries attended the meeting.
