On May 17, speaking at a briefing at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers, Chief of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Talia Minullina said that as of today more than 1,200 people have registered to participate in the 8th International Economic Summit held by Russia and the OIC states to be held in Kazan on May 19-21.

“We have never seen such numbers, this is unprecedented. We expect large delegations from the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait,” the speaker said.

She reminded that this year according to the Tatarstan President’s decree, the economic summit has been renamed into ‘Russia – the Islamic World: KazanSummit’.

“It was done for a reason. We wanted to position KazanSummit as a venue for interaction between the Russian regions, establishing contacts and finding new partners, discussing joint projects with the OIC countries,” she explained.

Minullina told reporters that more than 20 Russian regions have registered to participate in the summit.

According to the speaker, more than 10 agreements are intended to be signed during the event.
