Rustam Minnikhanov meets activists of Miras Tatar society in Austria

On May 12, during his working visit to Vienna, Tatarstan President Rustam Minikhanov had a meeting with activists of the Austria's Miras Tatar community. 

Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lubinsky took part in the meeting.

Minnikhanov thanked members of the Tatar community "Miras" for maintaining the Tatar culture, language and traditions and for their proactive approach to life.

Tatarstan President was informed that the Miras society had been registered in January 2016 after the number of its participants became to increase. The society actively cooperates with the World Congress of Tatars and became part of the European Alliance of Tatars.

Minnikhanov noted that today only about one third of all the Tatars live in the republic, a larger part live in other Russian regions and countries. He said that it is important to maintain the relationship, develop cooperation. “We need you, you preserve the identity and culture of the Tatar people,” he went on to say.

According to him, it is important to rely on activists of Tatar Diasporas and communities around the world.

Members of the community invited Dmitry Lyubinsky to visit the national holiday Sabantuy, which will be held in Vienna in June this year.

Activists of the Miras society came up with their suggestions and wishes regarding establishing cooperation with Tatarstan and the World Congress of Tatars. They, in particular, raised the issue of joint summer camps for children, including those from Tatastan, with the possibility to study the native Tatar language.

Minnikhanov was also told about the project of establishing a private kindergarten with Tatar language classes and other projects in Vienna.

In addition, the issue related to creating an educational and cultural center in Vienna was touched upon.

In his turn Lubinsky noted that today it is important to enhance humanitarian cooperation and thanked the members of the Miras society for their proactiveness.
