Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov holds meeting on development of infrastructure of gardening societies in the republic

On May 3, at Tatarstan Government House, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov held a meeting on the development of infrastructure of gardening societies in the republic.

Khalikov said that there are 376,000 garden plots with a total area of ​​28,000 hectares in the republic, more than 17,000 hectares of which have been registered as the property. According to him, more than 1 million citizens of the republic provide themselves with fruits and vegetables through working at their own garden plots. Moreover, for a lot of Tatarstan citizens dachas (houses in the country) and garden plots are traditional leisure areas in summer.

He reminded that the inventory of infrastructure of gardening societies performed in the republic in 2011 revealed that many of them require repair and renovation. This also includes 402 km of access roads for garbage collection, cars, fire-fighting and other emergency vehicles; 418 km of power transmission lines; 1,600 km of water pipes; 255 water towers; 240 pumping stations, and 154 wells.

He said that all the issues related to gardening societies require serious attention.
