Rustam Minnikhanov discusses development of cooperation in IT sector with Chinese leadership

On April 28, at Tatarstan Governemnt House at his meeting with Chinese delegation led by Chief of the State Internet Information Office Lu Wei,  Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that he is convinced the IT sector will become one of the areas of long-term cooperation between Tatarstan and the People’s Republic of China.

Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan appreciates its strong relations with China and attaches great importance to increasing all-round ties aimed at promoting friendship and cooperation between Russia and People’s Republic of China.

“We pay great attention to cooperation with your country and cooperate successfully with many Chinese provinces,” he stressed. “Tatarstan established a trade representative office in China, plans to set up China’s Consulate General in Kazan, and works to set up direct flights.”

He reminded that Chinese companies took part in implementation of a major project Ammonium in Tatarstan, and that last week the Haier Corporation opened its plant in in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Minnikhanov went on to say that Joint projects in agriculture, mechanical engineering, construction, logistics and furniture manufacturing are being implemented with Chinese partner.  According to him, active work is underway within building a high-speed railway line between Moscow and Kazan, as well as Europe – Western China transport corridor.

“Promoting information-communication technologies and innovations is one of our priprities,”  Tatarstan President said, noting that Tatarstan is the leader in Russia in terms of implementing innovative technologies in everyday life.

Thanking Minnikhanov for the reception, Lu Wei noted that Tatarstan is the leading Russian region inin information technologies. “This meeting will allow outlining new ways for our cooperation,” he added. 

Tatarstan Minister of IT Technology and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov, Chief of regional Agency for the Press and Mass Communications Airat Zaripov, and other officials took part in the meeting.
