Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov meets representatives of Sri Lanka Defence Ministry

On April 25, at Tatarstan Government House, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov had a meeting with representatives of Defence Ministry of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Director General of Ak Bars Holding Company Ivan Yegorov, General Director Zelenodolsk Gorky Shipbuilding Plant Renat Mistakhov, and other officials took part in the meeting.

Khalikov conveyed welcoming greetings from the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to the guests.

“We are interested in developing cooperation with the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka,” he said. “I hope this visit will strengthen our relations.”

Khalikov briefed about the regional economy, noting Tatarstan is one of the largest and most economically developed regions of Russia.  “We have petrochemical and oil refining plants, manufacture airplanes and helicopters, cars and trucks, ships, and are the leading region in terms of agricultural production and implementing IT projects,” he continued.

He said that he hopes that the visit of Sri Lanka delegation to the republic will make a start for cooperation not with the Gorky Plant alone but with other industrial manufacturers of the republic as well.

In his turn the official representing the Sri Lanka Defence Minister reminded that his country has been going through a difficult period and is interested in renewing its motor pool.
