Ildar Khalikov opens scientific conference "ICONO/LAT-2010"

International conference on coherent and nonlinear optics, lasers, its applications and technologies "ICONO/LAT-2010" started its work in Kazan on August, 23. It was opened by RT Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov.

On behalf of republican leadership head of Tatarstan government welcomed participants of the conference and expressed gratitude towards organizers of forum for choosing Kazan as a place for holding the conference.

“Kazan is a city with rich traditions and one of the largest scientific-research and educational centres in Russia. Such distinguished scientists as Aleksandr Butlerov, Nikolay Lobachevsky, Aleksandr Vishnevsky, Nikolay Chebotarev worked in Kazan university. The bases of Kazan physical school were laid during Great Patriotic War”, - Ildar Khalikov stressed.

He also noted that various scientific conferences and workshops are yearly held in Kazan. Kazan hosted International ampere congress dedicated to 50-anniversary of opening electronic paramagnetic resonance by E. Zavoisky.

Ildar Khalikov wished all participants of the conference fruitful creative work, useful meetings and discussions.

Co-chairman of the conference "ICONO/LAT-2010", academician of Russian academy of sciences Sergey Bagaev thanked republican leadership for help in organization and holding of the conference. The decision was made jointly by Russian academy of sciences and Moscow state university and supported by RT government and Russian fund of fundamental researches.

“Kazan is a large scientific, educational and cultural centre of our country. It is the city of unique historical monuments. Moreover, Kazan is in the list of UNESCO World heritage cities”, - Sergey Bagaev stressed.

Kazan scientific centre under Russian academy of sciences and Presidium of RT National academy of sciences are located in the capital of Tatarstan.

“Kazan state university is the pride of Tatarstan. It is one of the oldest universities in Russia, the largest centre of education and science. The faculty of physics has always been the pride of Kazan state university. All these factors influenced the choice of place for holding the conference”, - Sergey Bagaev said. About 800 scientists take part in work of the conference.

International school of young scientists will be held within the limits of "ICONO/LAT-2010" conference.
