Tatarstan President hands in Medal of Order of Merit to Republic of Tatarstan to cash collector who shot robber

On April 18, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit to Republic of Tatarstan to Danila Pozdeev, a cash collector at the Tatarstan office of the Russian Central Bank’s Cash Collecting Association. The medal was given “for bravery and courage in the line of duty that involves risk to the life”.

In March, in Nizhnekamsk at the Unified Information Computing Center a man attacked cash collectors. Pointing a gun, he pulled the bag with a great amount of money.  The cash collector made two warning shots into the air and then Danila Pozdeev shot into the robber. The attacker was wounded and later died in hospital. The cash collector’s actions were justified as legal.

Handing in the medal, Minnikhanov noted that when performing his duties the cash collector showed courage and fidelity to his duty.

Also, Board Chairman of Russian Central Bank’s Cash Collection Association Oleg Krylov gave the cash collector a departmental award, the High Achieving Cash Collector lapel pin.
