The first forest selection seed production center to appear in Tatarstan

The Republic of Tatarstan has always been the example of keeping forestry among Russian regions. This was said by Head of Federal agency of forestry Aleksey Savinov at the ceremony of laying of the foundation stone of forest seed-growing center in Sabinsky municipal region in Tatarstan.

In the event took part RT President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy of RF State Duma - member of State duma committee on natural resources, nature use and ecology Fatikh Sibagatullin, RT Minister of forestry Nail Magdeev, Head of Sabinsky municipal region Rais Minnikhanov.

A forest selection seed production center is being created for improving quality of seeds and planting material with better hereditary characteristics.

By words of Aleksey Savinov it is planned to create five centres of this kind in Russia. The first one will appear in Tatarstan. The area of 7 hectares in settlement Leskhoz (Sabinsky region) has been allotted for construction of the centre.

Speaking at the ceremony Aleksey Savinov noted that today Tatarstan is not very forestland republic. Percentage of forest land makes 17 %.

By creating such forest selection seed production center we want to achieve the previous percentage of forest land.

Aleksey Savinov announced likewise that the most advanced technologies and equipment would be used in the centre.

OOO “Raff plus” is a contractor of this project.

“Creation of such centre would favor modernization of forestry sector and preparation of qualified staff”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said. He thanked Head of Federal agency of forestry for enormous efforts undertaken in crisis conditions for further development and modernization of forestry sector and attention towards formation of human resource potential.
