Two-month sanitary and environmental campaign begins in Tatarstan

On March 29, speaking at a briefing at Tatarstan Government House, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the republic Farid Abdulganiev said that a two-month sanitary and environmental campaign begins in Tatarstan on April 1, adding that during the campaign the regional territories will be brought in compliance with the requirements of environmental and sanitary epidemiological security. 

Abdulganiev said that it will be possible to track the process of identification and elimination of landfills online using the system “Environmental Map of Tatarstan”. A mobile inspector’s workstation, the program launched recently, allows uploading a photo of revealed violations to the system and sending it to the moderator.

According to the speaker, ground and air transport, quadrocopters, and other equipment will be used to identify violations. In addition, it will be possible to determine the coordinates of locations with an accuracy up to ten cm using satellite geodetic receivers.

"The campaign focuses at identifying and combating violations in water protect zones and water bodies," the minister pointed out. "First of all, the Volga, Kama and Vyatka rivers will be monitored," he added.

Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Chief State Inspector for Environmental Protection Fayaz Shakirov added that more than 100 appeals were received last year. Violators were fined for more than one million rubles, 500,000 roubles of which were recovered. "This year, we have already received more than 40 claims of citizens. The work is underway," he said.

Within the framework of the environmental campaign, the most eco-friendly family, the best company, the best school, the management company, and the best high education institution will be chosen.

Shakirov pointed out that last year, the supervisory authorities and municipalities identified more than 7,000 violations, more than 4,000 protocols were made up, with the amount of fines totalling 26.5 million roubles. As a result, 80 materials were sent to the prosecuting authorities.
