Ildar Khalikov holds meeting of the organizing committee on preparation for VIII International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit”

On March 22, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov held the first meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the VIII International Economic Summit “Russia – Islamic World: KazanSummit”.

The summit will be held on May 19 – 21, 2016 in Kazan.

Khalikov noted that at the end of the last year Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov signed a decree to support the proposal of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency on holding the International economic summit "Russia - the Islamic world: KazanSummit» every year. According to Khalikov, the event is aimed at strengthening  trade, economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural relations between Tatarstan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

"Also, holding the summit will contribute to the development of Islamic financial institutions in Russia," he continued.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina reported that main arrangements for the summit have been already made. At the moment, negotiations with participants are underway.

Then, members of the organizing committee members discussed the draft programme of the economic summit in details.
