Tatarstan President requested Chairman of Russian government to allocate 1 mln. tons of grain for republic

For the last 10 years Tatarstan has been harvesting crops in scope of 4-5 mln. tons annually. It is said that this year no more than 1 mln. tons will be harvested on Tatarstan fields. This information was given by RT President Rustam Minnikhanov at a session of RF government presidium.

The session was held in Moscow by Chairman of Russian government Vladimir Putin. The key issue for discussion was coping with drought consequences in RF regions. Heads of regions badly suffered from drought and abnormal high temperatures attended the session.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov requested Chairman of Russian government to allocate 1 mln. tons of grain for republic from intervention fund.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that Tatarstan is a livestock republic, a large number of cattle stock is being bred in republic, particularly in private farms.

By words of Rustam Minnikhanov republic had already sent 100 procurement brigades for stocking feed in other regions. Today Tatarstan needs subsidies to purchase feed as long as livestock farms and private farmers would not get loans in banks.

Chairman of Russian government Vladimir Putin offered heads of other regions to show the same activity as Tatarstan.

Governors of Samara, Saratov regions also spoke at the session of RF government presidium.

We remind that by and large 14 regions have suffered from drought this year.
