Tatarstan Head Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of JSC "Sukhoi" Mikhail Pogosyan discuss further development of aviation

Issues of further development of the aviation branch and prospects of the Kazan Aviation Production Association named after Tupolev were discussed at the meeting of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Pogosyan, the Director General of JSC " Aviation holding company "Sukhoi" , on July 1.

The meeting was held at the RT House of Government.

Among other participants of the discussion were Vice President of the United Aviation Construction Corporation on strategic and special aviation, President of JSC Tupolev Aleksandr Bobryshev, Tatarstan Industry and Trade Minister Ravil Zaripov, Tatarstan Education and Science Minister Albert Gilmutdinov, Aide to the Tatarstan President Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.

Rustam Minnikhanov said the Tatarstan leadership regards the aviation branch as the repbulic’s heritage and intends to continue developing KAPO n.a. Gorbunov. He also reminded that Kazan State Technical University n.a. Tupolev (Kazan Aviation Institute) had won the status of the national research institution acknowledging its scientific potential once again and giving the opportunity to prepare highly-skilled human resources for the aviation branch.

After the meeting, Tatarstan Industry and Trade Minister Ravil Zaripov answered questions of journalists.

He said that one of the topics at the meeting of Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Pogosyan was interaction between institutions of higher learning and the real sector.

The second direction discussed at the meeting was use of composite materials in aviation industry. First and foremost it refers to KAPO n.a. Gorbunov and JSC Kazan Helicopters. Composite materials could also be used in automobile industry.

The other issue the parties focused on was ways of cooperation of the Sukhoi Construction Bureau and the Tupolev Construction Bureau with Tatarstan companies manufacturing recognition systems and other devices.
