Rustam Minnikhanov: creation of federal road fund is a step forward

Project of creating federal road fund was discussed at the meeting at RF President Dmitry Medvedev in format of video conference. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the meeting.

After presentation of project by RF Minister of transport Igor Levitin RF President heard opinions of heads of regions.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted in his report: “We know how to work with road fund, consolidate funds and efficiently allocate them for construction and maintenance of roads. We managed to create “Tatavtodor” in Tatarstan before crisis which has proper infrastructure for maintenance, reconstruction and construction of roads”.

RF President thinks that road economy requires a large number of financial resources both at federal and regional level.

By words of Rustam Minnikhanov in case it is decided to increase fuel excises, explanatory work with population will have to be conducted (RF Ministry of transport offered to increase rates of excises for petrol and diesel fuel).

N the whole, President of Tatarstan characterized creation of federal road fund as a step forward. He considers that while elaborating the project it is necessary to take into account vehicles with axle weight of more than 12 tones. They really damage road surface.
