Rustam Minnikhanov meets with Helix Ventures

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with the management of the venture capital firm Helix Venture (USA) and Director General of OAO Russian Venture Company Igor Agamirzyan on June 10.

The meeting was held at the RT House of Government. Tatarstan Industry and Trade Minister Ravil Zaripov, Tatarstan Agriculture and Food Minister Marat AKhmetov, Head of the Tatarstan Investment and Venture Fund Ainur Aideldinov, Director General of OAO Tatneftekhiminvest-holding Rafinat Yarullin, Chiarman of the Tatarstan Committee on small and medium business development Timur Shagivaleyev and other officials attended the meeting.

Helix Ventures Founder and General Partner Evgeny Zaytsev told Rustam Minnikhanov about Helix Ventures projects and the situation on the world market of biotechnologies.

Evgeny Zaitsev made a proposal on development of the biopharmaceutical sphere of the Republic of Tatarstan and creation of a joint venture fund with Helix Ventures to invest in biotechnologies and medicine.

Igor Agamirzyan stated that the Russian Venture Company also considered the opportunity to create a joint venture fund in the sphere of biotechnologies.

The parties studied investment variants, terms and volumes.

President Minnikhanov remarked that creation of such a fund without a strong strategic partner like the Russian Venture Company was for the republic would not be possible. He also reminded that today the republic offers favorable conditions and the infrastructure for innovative business. Development of such a sphere as farm and biotechnologies is one of the most important directions for the Tatarstan economy along with petrochemistry, oil refinement, nanoindustry, etc.
