Farid Mukhametshin: “Parliamentary lessons help students reveal their talents and form active citizenship”

Today Tatarstan Parliament Speaker Farid Mukhametshin took part in the parliamentary lesson “Citizen. Society. State” held in the boarding school with in-depth study of chemistry for gifted children in Zelenodolsk district. The head of the parliament talked about the structure of state power in Russia and Tatarstan and explained why today is so important to have active civil position. Lesson was held for students of 9 - 11 grades.

Farid Mukhametshin toured the school building: living rooms for students, swimming pool, laboratories, chemistry classrooms, and the room with “Yokogawa” software, which created a virtual model of oil and gas production “Factory of the future”.

Chairman of the RT State Council noted that nowadays it is very important to be “politically active”.  “Parliamentary lessons, which are held in schools annually, are of great interest among teachers and students. It is essential to prepare young people for the “big life” and parliamentary lessons help not only reveal talents and skills of students but also form active citizenship. Everyone must be aware of laws. It’s our duty.”

At the end of the lesson, Farid Mukhametshin answered students’ questions and wished them success in their future lives.

Parliamentary lessons with participation of deputies of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, representative bodies of local authorities are held in all schools of the republic during the whole week from February 8-13, 2016. Parliamentarians attend educational institutions and tell students about peculiarities of lawmaking process and its important role in or lives.

For the first time the parliamentary lesson was held at the initiative of the State Council jointly with Ministry of Education and Science and Institute of Education in 2009. Since that time the lessons are conducted on an annual basis.
