On February 8, at a joint session of Tatarstan Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Industry and Trade, President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said that the region can increase the volume of industrial production three times within six-seven years.
Speaking about the key tasks set to the regional industry, the President noted leading Ammoni complex to the full capacity, construction of ethylene production complex in Nizhnekamsk, and reconstruction of Zainsk state district power station.
Rustam Minnikhanov focused on the development of Alabuga and Innopolis Specialized Economic Zones, Sviyazhsk multimodal logistics center that needs to be connected with one of the zones, and changing the economic structure of monotowns.
Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dmitry Ovsyannikov, who took part in the session, said that the ministry carries out major work on supporting and developing the Tatarstan industry, and allocated 48 bln rubles of subsidies for 109 industrial and trade enterprises of the region in 2008-2015.
Moreover, much attention was paid to the development of monotowns of the republic where the main enterprises - POZIS, Yelabuga automobile plant, KAMAZ PTC, and L.Ya. Karpov Chemical plant - are located.
In 2015, the Monotowns Development Fund and the Republic of Tatarstan signed the general agreement on implementation of projects in the sphere of infrastructure development of single-industry municipalities.
