On February 3, at a session of the Tatarstan State Committee on Tourism on results of work in 2015 at Ramada hotel (Kazan), Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov gave an errand to intensify work in increasing tourist flow in Bolgar and Sviyazhsk.
Head of the State committee on tourism Sergei Ivanov told about work on developing tourist potential and promotion of the ancient Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk. This work was aimed at increasing the tourist flow, creation of the tourist navigation system, development of excursions and programmes, and increasing the quality of tourist services.
According to Sergei Ivanov, big events such as the festival “Great Bolgar” visited by 26,000 people from 14 regions favoured a considerable increase of the tourist flow in 2015. Moreover, work on developing the system of tourist navigation continued last year and 36 new road signs were installed.
Ildar Khalikov said that in spite of achieved results there are some problems to be solved, such as lack of professional approach to hospitality, language support, and interaction between the committee and other regional ministries and agencies.
