Total tourism turnover makes 18.4 billion roubles in Tatarstan

On February 3, speaking at a meeting dedicated to results of the work of  Tatarstan State Committee for Tourism  in 2015, the Committee Chairman Sergei Ivanov said that the volume of tourism services rendered in Tatarstan amounted to 11.3 billion roubles without related industries last year, which is 12.8 per cent more as compared to the same period in 2014, with the total turnover of the tourism industry in the reporting year amounted to 18.4 billion roubles.

"An important indicator of the tourism development in the republic is the volume of services rendered. In 2015, the volume of services without related industries amounted to 11.3 billion roubles, which is 12.8 per cent more than in 2014. This figure includes expenses for accommodation of tourists, sightseeing and health services," Ivanov said.

According to him, the total turnover of the tourism industry in the reporting year amounted to 18.4 billion rubles based on survey data, taking into account related sectors (food, entertainment and shopping).

In 2015, the Center for Economic and Social Research in cooperation with Tatarstan State Committee for Tourism developed methods for budgetary efficiency in tourism. They figured out tax deductions to regional budgets from services in the tourism sector, taking into account the multiplier effect of related industries worth 7.9 billion roubles. The share of tourism in gross regional product amounted to 1.4 per cent, considering related sectors.

The number of foreign citizens who paid a tourist visit to Tatarstan increased by 78.8 per cent as compared to 2014, totaling to 154.1 thousand people. Tourists mostly came to Tatarstan from Turkey, China, Germany, USA and France.
