Tatarstan Ministry of Health: Every 43d citizen in Tatarstan has cancer

On February 2, Tatarstan Health Minister Adel Vafin informed participants of press conference dedicated to World Cancer Day that every 43d citizen in Tatarstan has cancer.

According to the minister, by results of 2015, total mortality rate in the republic decreased by 1.6 per cent (475 people). The ministry came forward with initiative to announce 2016 the Year of cancer prevention in the republic. Adel Vafin noted that cancer mortality has increased by 8 per cent, and about 15,000 oncological diseases are registered in Tatarstan every year.

Adel Vafin paid attention to early detection of cancer and said that 57.8 per cent of oncological diseases can be detected at early stages.
