Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov proposed to Beijing Sport University President to consider cooperation with Athletics, Sport and Tourism Academy

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov received a delegation of the Beijing Sport University, China at the RT House of Government on May 28.

The representatives of the Beijing Sport University led by BSU President Prof. Yang Hua are in Kazan on a two-day visit (27-28 May 2010). One of the purposes of the visit to the Tatarstan capital is to see how the preparation for the World Students Games 2013 is going.

The Chinese delegation visited sport facilities built for the Universiade 2013, the Universiade Village, attended the opening of the KAI-Olymp swimming pool that became the 18th venue commissioned for the Universiade and visited Kazan (Volga) Federal University.

Greeting the guests, President Minnikhanov stated that Tatarstan highly appreciated the opportunity to cooperate with China in the framework of Russia-China relations.

He said China and Tatarstan are connected through many-year coopearion.

“Shenzhen’s experience in preparation for the Universiade is of great importance and value for us. We are keeping in touch with representatives of Shenzhen,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Rustam Minnikhanov also said that Kazan is called one of Russia’s capitals of sport and that we pay a lot of attention to the development of both mass sport and sport at the higher competitive level.

He reminded that the Tatars State Academy of Athletics, Sport and Tourism is about to open in Kazan after the Kama State Academy of Athletics, Sport and Tourism is transferred to the republic’s capital from Naberezhnye Chelny.

“Today, we’d like to take this opportunity and propose cooperation in the development of sport. We would also like to conclude an agreement between the Beijing Sport University and our Academy of Athletics, Sport and Tourism. It could be a huge support for the new establishment. Besides, we would like to see you, Mr. Yang, in the Board of Trustees of the Academy of Athletics, Sport and Tourism.”

Prof. Yang Hua thanked Rustam Minnikhano for the warm reception in Kazan. He stated that the visit showed to him Tatarstan’s attitude to education and sport. Prof. Yang also said he was impressed by the big number of students attending establishments of higher learning in Kazan.
