FINA President Julio Maglione and Executive Director of International Swimming Federation Cornel Marculescu honoured at the Kazan Kremlin

On January 24, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn ceremony of honouring FINA President Julio Maglione and Executive Director of International Swimming Federation Cornel Marculescu.

“Today we have an opportunity to mark your great contribution to the development of sports both in the republic and the country. Thanks to the World Aquatics Championship 2015 we can inscribe your names in the history of our sports,” Minnikhanov noted.

Tatarstan President said that he is sure that the “Water” World Cup is far from being the last joint project with International Swimming Federation, and the experience of the republic on holding such a large-scale event would be broadcast worldwide. Moreover, experienced specialists and modern infrastructure allow Kazan to hold sports events of the highest level, he said.

Minnikhanov handed in the Duslyk order and the FINA Championship 2015 commemorative medal to Julio Maglione for fruitful cooperation and considerable contribution to the preparation and holding of the World Aquatics Championship 2015.  Cornel Marculescu was given the Dyslyk order as well and the order “For Merit to the Republic of Tatarstan”.
