President of Tatarstan checked spring field works in Elabuga, Mamadysh and Tyulyachi regions

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov checked spring field works in Elabuga, Mamadysh and Tyulyachi regions of republic. He was accompanied by Deputy Prime minister – minister of agriculture and foodstuff Marat Akhmetov, heads of ministries, deputies of the RF State Duma and the RT State Council, heads of regions, banking structures and organizations of RT agro-industrial sector.

Working results of JSC “VAMIN Tatarstan” for 2009 and the 1 quarter of 2010 have been analyzed at a meeting with participation of RT President.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that due to the efforts of government and private investors, an agro-industrial cluster has been formed in Tatarstan. In rural areas the investors solve both economic and social problems.

RT President emphasized that development of agro-industrial sector has always been and will be a priority one in the republic. By his words, a financial crisis affected all economic sectors including agriculture. Nevertheless, a constructive work on developing agriculture in republic keeps going.

Director General of JSC “VAMIN Tatarstan” Vagiz Mingazov reported on working results of agro-industrial holding, which includes 27 agricultural firms with total area 450 000 hectares, 28 dairy plants, 10 grain-collecting and processing enterprises and fisheries. By his words, in 2000 - 2005 years a complex program of modernization of dairy industry was realized in the company.

Total volume of realized production in 2009 made 16 bln. roubles. The task for 2012 has been fixed to achieve the rate of 20 bln. roubles.

President of Tatarstan considers that “our citizens should eat only qualitative, fresh, home-made products”. Food safety is becoming more acute.

At the end of the meeting Marat Akhmetov told representatives of mass media that the republic had gone through “equator” of sowing season – more than 50 % of areas have been planted. Everything is well-organized, but the problem is that every day 60 tonnes of moisture is lost per hectare.

RT Minister of agriculture and foodstuff told that in Tatarstan government support of agricultural sector makes 6-7 bln. roubles per year. All dairy products are available in republic and there is no reason for growing prices.
