04.05.2010

Today RT President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in ceremony of laying the foundation stone of new plants on the territory of special economic zone “Alabuga”.

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Director General of JSC “special economic zones” Igor Kosov and members of RT government took part in a ceremony.

We remind that a year ago, in February 2009, a special economic zone “Alabuga” and company “Trakya Cam Sanayii” (Sisecam holding, Turkey) concluded the agreement on cooperation and Turkish party expressed intention to extend its presence in Russian market by building a plant for producing sheet glass in Tatarstan.

Representatives of Turkish holding “Sisecam” within their visit to Kazan on March, 15, 2010 confirmed their plans at the meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov.

Today, two new plants of Turkish companies are planned to be constructed on the territory of special economic zone “Alabuga” – plant for producing wood boards, project of
«Kastamonu Entegre» (holding «Hayat») and plant for producing sheet glass (company «Trakya Cam Sanayii» - branch of concern “Sisecam”).

Speaking at the ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov called the event a symbolic one. By his words, today large global companies appear in the special economic zone “Alabuga”. Supply materials from Tatarstan and neighbouring Russian regions will be used in production.

Director General of JSC “special economic zones” Igor Kosov stressed that new plants imply new working places and new tax revenues.

We remind that on May, 11-13 RF President Dmitry Medvedev is going to visit Turkish Republic. Head of Tatarstan will also take part in this trip. “I will have possibility to report the President of Turkish Republic that his assignments have been fulfilled”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Consul of Turkish Republic in Kazan Ahmet Tuta read out a welcoming speech of Turkish President Abdullakh Gul addressed to Rustam Minnikhanov.
