Rustam Minnikhanov “Creation of innovative economy in Tatarstan is impossible without Kazan University”

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thinks that creation of innovative economy in republic is impossible without Kazan state university. He announced it at a special session of Academic council of Kazan state university. The session was held in assembly hall of the university with participation of RF Minister of education and science Andrei Fursenko.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that potential of Kazan university and efforts of Tatarstan government allowed Kazan state university getting new federal status. Head of republic is sure that it gives us new possibilities.

According to Tatarstan President Kazan university has always been a leading academic centre in republic. “We are focusing on innovative economy, - he underlined. - We have accepted the program of innovative development and we understand the need for educated people, new specialities we didn’t hear of 5-10 years ago. This very task should be solved in a comprehensive way. It is rather difficult within the limits of our region, but is quite feasible with a federal status and joint work with federal government on formation of material-technical and intellectual basis”.

RT President informed that by the beginning of new academic year it is planned to commission 180 000 m² of Universiade village. Part of the territory will be allotted for needs of Kazan university. Moreover, two sport objects are to be constructed for university.

“Republican leadership will support the Federal university in every possible way, - Rustam Minnikhanov assured. – New rector Ilshat Gafurov will have to work hard and we are to support him in any endeavors so that the university will take a deserving place among the country’s best universities”.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Myakzyum Salakhov for his fruitful activity being the rector of Kazan state university and presented him a Letter of gratitude of President of the Republic of Tatarstan.

We remind that in the course of visit to Kazan Russian Minister of education and science Andrey Fursenko made proposal for Academic council of Kazan state university to elect Myakzyum Salakhov as President of Kazan (Volga) federal university. Andrei Fursenko considers it will provide succession in university and signifies the recognition of his merits.
